We are now accepting applications for the January 2018 Two Year Program.
Classes begin on January 6th, 8th and 9th, 2018.
Tuition costs are listed below.
PART TIME PROGRAM
The Two-year Part Time Program consists of two 32-week sessions: Acting Technique I, and Acting Technique II. This acting technique class meets twice per week for approximately 3 hours per class. Payments for part-time students are due every month for a total of eight payments for each year. Optional supplementary classes can be added on a class-by-class basis, allowing each student to custom-build their own program.
CORE STUDENT PROGRAM
The Two-year Core Program consists of two 32-week sessions during which you will be enrolled in three classes: Acting, Movement, and Voice and Speech. In addition to the acting technique class, students are required to Movement Class (2x per week, 2 hours per class) and Voice & Speech (2x per week 1.5 hours per class), for a total of 13 hours of class time per week. Payment for the Core Student program is broken down into three installments throughout the year.
FULL TIME PROGRAM
The Two-year Full-Time Program also consists of two 32-week sessions, designed to provide a full conservatory experience. Both of these sessions, referred to as “1st Year” and “2nd Year” include Acting Technique, as well as various supplementary classes designed to accompany this training:
1st Year – Acting Technique 1, Movement 1, Voice & Speech 1, Alexander 1, Mask, Stage Combat 1 and Dance
2nd Year – Acting Technique 2, Movement 2, Mime & Physical Theatre, Voice & Speech 2, Alexander 2, Stage Combat 2, Acting On-Camera, Script Analysis, Improvisation, and Cold Reading
Full-Time students should expect to be in class 18-25 hours per week. The above classes are all required components of the Full-Time program. Payment for the Full-time Program is broken down into three installments throughout the year.
Each session begins in the third week of September and finishes at the end of the first week of June. Students in all programs vacation during the summer and then return in September for the second year. Admission to the second year is by invitation only.
The studio also provides the opportunity to begin the training program in January of each year. Students on this schedule begin in January and continue until the end of July. If invited to return for second year, students will begin the 2nd year work in the third week of September and finish at the end of the first week of June. The Fall and January programs have identical course work and requirements for completion.
Work at the studio derives from William Esper’s close association with Sanford Meisner, with whom he worked as a teacher and director for 17 years. For 25 years, Mr. Esper was a Full Professor and Head of the Professional Actor Training Programs at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
Each acting class meets for three 3 to 3.5 hours twice each week. Students are expected to present work at each class. In addition, the Studio expects students to spend at least 4 to 8 hours in outside rehearsal with their partners.
